Matthew Nini argues that Johann Gottlieb Fichte reached philosophical maturity in Berlin, and that his mature thought has to be understood by working through it. This is volume 1 on the 1804 lectures.

When Johann Gottlieb Fichte left his post at Jena for Berlin, his career seemed to be finished. Berlin had no university in 1799, so Fichte found himself lecturing in his own home. Matthew Nini breaks with the usual scholarly reading of these years.
Instead, Nini argues that Berlin is where Fichte's philosophy matured, and that the only way to understand his mature position is to carry it out as one works through the argument. This is the first volume on the 1804 Wissenschaftslehre, Fichte's account of the science of knowledge.
The book will appeal to scholars of German idealism and to students who study Fichte in depth, especially readers interested in how his system developed after Jena.
