Security and International Relations

Helping students identify and discuss main issues in international security today, this book evaluates the contending schools of thought and their key assumptions. It explains why states use-- or chose not to use--force to promote their causes. Each philosophy is tested in terms of its capacity to explain the rise and demise of the Cold War and to address the security challenges confronting the peoples and states of the twenty-first century.
