About this book

It begins when Amy Anne Ollinger tries to borrow her favourite book from the school library, and the librarian tells her it has been banned. A classmate's mother had decided the book was not suitable for children, and that decision lands squarely on Amy Anne's desk.

Amy Anne refuses to accept it. She sets up a hidden banned books library inside her locker, and soon she is at the centre of a larger fight over book banning, censorship and who gets to decide what children read. Alan Gratz follows her as the stakes rise and the battle spreads beyond one school library.
