The book presents art from the Paul Dyck Collection, a group of more than 2,000 nineteenth-century works made by the buffalo-hunting peoples of the Great Plains. Dyck, an artist who lived from 1917 to 2006, assembled the collection over the course of his career.
The collection was acquired by the Plains Indian Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and this book makes it open to general readers for the first time. It shows the range and skill of the works, which are gathered here as a record of these peoples’ art.
