About this book

Al Rose has known almost every noteworthy jazz musician of his time. For many he arranged concerts and wrote songs that others went on to perform, while publicising their careers.

His connections went well beyond the stage. He stood up for musicians at their weddings, helped sort out their finances, bailed some out of jail and gave eulogies at their funerals. His circle of bars and clubs ran from New Orleans to New York, and from Paris to Singapore.

The book is published by LSU Press, ISBN-13 9780807125717. It will appeal to readers of jazz history and of musicians' lives.
