About this book

Donna Franceschild adapted this play for the stage herself, drawing on her BBC television series. It is set in a Scottish mental institution called St Jude's, where the hospital radio station has fallen silent.

Eddie McKenna, a double glazing salesman and would-be DJ, arrives to revive the station and ends up turning far more than the station upside down. He meets Campbell, Fergus, Rosalie and Francine, patients living with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and self-harm.

Their struggle is against illness and against how other people see them, and each character hopes to be accepted for who they are. The play appears in the Modern Plays series. Published by Methuen Drama in 2013, with 96 pages and ISBN-13 9781472507464.
