About this book

Taste is one of the short stories Roald Dahl wrote for adult readers, tales of unsettling twists rather than the children's fiction he is best known for. Two men make an unusual and chilling bet about the history of a bottle of wine, and the story runs on the tension of that wager.

The story is taken from Someone Like You, a collection that contains seventeen other stories of similar dark turns. Among them are a housewife whose meal leaves detectives stumped and a contraption that exposes the grim truth about plants. Dahl's adult stories have often been filmed, and this one belongs to that body of work.
