The Long Chain: 3

New York is blanketed by an unnatural fog, and private detective Alex Lockerby is hunting for a scientist who has gone missing, a stolen military secret and a murderer leaving bodies behind. A Nobel-winning chemist has vanished, and his granddaughter hires Alex to find him, which suits Alex because he has the best finding rune in the city.

When Alex tracks the chemist down, the man cannot recall his own identity or what befell him, and his research has vanished. Alex suspects something larger is going on. Before he can learn much more, the city is wrapped in a dense fog, and the sorceress Sorsha Kincaid turns up at his door needing his finding rune to trace the source.

She has little time for his other cases, so Alex must keep the powerful and volatile sorceress onside while he untangles science, murder and missing memories. Edition note: published by Independently Published in 2019, 314 pages. ISBN-13 9781688098725.
