Production and Management of Lithic Materials in the European Linearbandkeramik

This collection gathers ten papers, eight in English and two in French, drawn from the proceedings of the XIVth UISPP Congress, which was staged in Liège in 2001. The French parallel title reads Gestion des matériaux lithiques dans le Rubané européen, and the abstracts are given in both languages.

Using lithic remains, the contributors examine the European LBK and show that the study of sources, raw materials, manufacture and circulation is central to understanding the culture. Topics include control over sources, the importance of choice and management, different knapping strategies and modes of production.
