About this book

Shobogenzo: The True Dharma-eye Treasury is the work of Eihei Dogen, the thirteenth-century Zen master who founded the Soto school of Japanese Zen. This reprint presents Volume 2 of a translation made by Gudo Wafu Nishijima and Chodo Cross.

The volume is one part of a translation of the full ninety-five-chapter collection, which the Zen master Hangyo Kozen put together in the late seventeenth century. The original text is listed as Taisho No. 2582. Readers who want to study Dogen's teaching in English will find this a substantial, carefully produced reprint.
