Burnout

Quinn Brennan is the leading magical analyst for the Arcanum, an organisation that studies magic and guards against its darker forces. When one decision goes wrong, she loses her career, two close friends and her self-belief, and she is placed on a leave of absence she never wanted.

Determined to prove herself, Quinn uses the leave to investigate reports from Beteville, a town in magic's hot zone. Townspeople begin vanishing in a way that recalls events thirty years earlier. Quinn must draw on her Arcanum training, with help from the only survivor of her last failed mission, to stop the Beteville Beast.

Readers who like fantasy with a mystery at its core, and a heroine trying to win back her standing, will find this a focused read. Edition note: published by Midnight Tide Publishing in 2023, 338 pages, ISBN-13 9781958673218.
