Mit der endgültigen Formulierung des Bouguer-Lambert-Beer- schen Gesetzes im Jahre 1852 war schon früh eine Grundlage für die quantitative Auswertung von Absorptionsmessungen geschaffen worden, die zunächst zur Kolori- metrie, dann zur Photometrie und schlie lich zur Spektralphotometrie führte.
